little story:

i am currently doing my bachelors in graphic design and my thesis is somewhat heavily related to graffiti. i have seen graffiti, i have met some of the artists behind them, i have seen them at work, heck i even got high on spray paint fumes. i have seen the skills they have, somehow i have felt the passion they have for their art, and i was totally impressed by the focus they have when they work. don't get me wrong, i don't pretend that i know everything about the art or the artist. although i do call TraseOne "bro" affectionately because, well, we've been through some ups and downs during our accademic lapse together. however, i wouldn't call them brothers. those higher beings that we call graffiti artists; writers, those people whom i've met, they simply don't fit the term "brothers", they are on a level of their own. for that i should call them gurus. i have the deepest genuine respect for them, and their art. Somehow when i see their work being trashed, painted over by the government or scraped off from the very concrete that gave them birth, i feel a pinch somewhere (i mean its not like a mass produced poster that i would have designed, i can just do, File -> Print and paste it again)... maybe it's just my empathic nature, or maybe it's just cuz i'm an idiot. then again that's the graffiti game, perpetual rebirth, perpetual creativity.

no safety barrier can protect graffiti art, yet no safety barrier can keep graffiti from evolving through time.

this picture was taken when the skatepark was still under construction.

Ps: i have no idea if i'm making any sense, forgive me if i'm talking crap, flu is killing me and its 2:28am.

hmmm... good picture, somehow the text makes it even better... i like what you say about graffiti being painted over, how its not like a mass produced poster that you can file>;print... somehow it makes me think of photography, taking that picture of a particular instant... the other day at aerospace, i had to delete some shots of the a380... i kind of messed up and had to format the card, but i lost some amazing shots... bummer... well, im not makin much sense, i dont know if u get my drift... sometimes art is the instant the emotion or that expression on your face... the question is... who is there to see it? like a concert... you can buy a nirvana cd, or a led zeppelin album, but did you ever see them play live? its really amazing when u see a good performance, but then only you have that experience and every body experienced it in a different way.
ok, too much now... where did the rum go? :absolut:
